2010 Annual Fundraising Event
The 2010 Teach with Africa benefit event was held Wednesday, February 3, again at the St. Regis, San Francisco. We could never pull this off without the support of volunteers, and this year's HUGE success is due to all of the people who helped.
The first four photos in this slide show of featured Bay Area charitable events in the San Francisco Chronicle show visitors to the 2010 Fundraising Event.

Why
Teach with Africa responds to the severe educational crises in Africa and the U.S. by breaking down social and economic barriers to education through a reciprocal exchange of teaching and learning. The organization deploys and supports teams of educators to schools in Africa and implements educational projects in underserved communities. By integrating their experiences into curricula and educational programs after their return to the United States, these educators will enhance opportunities for children in the Bay Area and beyond to identify themselves as "global citizens" through authentic connections, ongoing dialogue and shared learning with the students in Africa.
This year's fundraiser set a precedent in staging a fabulous evening of generosity, partnership, and enthusiasm for launching Teach with Africa.
As we celebrate the accomplishments of our second year of partnership with the LEAP School in Cape Town, we are truly grateful for the generous support of our friends. We look forward to continuing the work we have started, sustaining hope for change in the educational opportunities for the children of South Africa, and contributing to the empowerment of its communities.
Teach with Africa used the proceeds of its second fund-raising event to send its 2009 Summer Fellows teaching team in July and August 2009, composed of credentialed teachers, mental health professionals, and MBAs focused on social entrepreneurship and sustainability. Every donation made to Teach with Africa is an investment in educational programs and in the global community of children that Teach with Africa seeks to serve.
